Japan Travelogue - Osaka

Our second day in Japan...what a great feeling waking up in a tatami futon bed in a hotel room in Osaka....if you woke up at 6am you'll be so surprise because it's already late morning...it's like 10am in Malaysia.. during our stay...subuh at 3am...like 2am in Malaysia...rasa macam bangun buat solat sunat pulak...

Our mission today is to go to tomica shop and sightseeing in Osaka town...so we had our breakfast, nasi impit kuah kacang for me and hubby and krim soup for the kids...the microwave doing us a lot of favor...can't imagine life at Osaka without that particular microwave...

At 9am we step outside the hotel and for the first time we felt sunshine in Osaka...the sun is shining but you don't feel the heat...the cold wind blowing so it is kind of chill...so we walk to the JR station which about 5 minute walk...bought a train ticket to Osaka Station....there is a lift in the station so it is very convenient for us...no need to angkat the stroller naik tangga...

While waiting for the train we we approached by an old man...he gave Fiesya a doll...very kind Japanese grandpa...

The train route is not that hard to understand even though they have so many line...if you looking for hotel...try to search a hotel that near Osaka loop line...it will be so much easy..the loop line is a red color line...if you stay in any station within the loop line you won't get confuse..because the train go in a circle so if you miss the station you can just stay in the train and wait until the train reach your station again...

Back to our journey...we stop at Osaka station which is the biggest station in Osaka like our KL sentral but like 5 time bigger...then walk along the subway midosuji line and follow a sign to Daimaru Umeda Store. find a lift and go to 13 Floor. When the lift door open you'll see a Pokemon center...walla...we are not a Pokemon die hard fan but it is worth going there...lot of merchandise..

Beside the Pokemon center is our main mission for today...tomica shop..this is the largest shop in Osaka...so many choices...rambang mata...you can't find some of the model in Malaysia...the price is about the same...but the design is superb... the kids and me went like crazy shopping for the car...only tomica fan will understand the feeling...

Japanese people are so polite...if you buy something...they will thank you like a hundred time... they spoke politely with you...they are so nice...why on earth their nenek moyang so kejam during the time they menjajah Tanah Melayu...maybe they learn their lesson not to become like their nenek moyang...

Next to the tomica shop is a uniqlo shop...this is a bonus point since i wanted to go to uniqlo but i did not know it is here..so we went baju shopping...all the tshirt design is kind of cute especially for the kids...the price is much more cheaper than Malaysia...

Actually there is so many uniqlo shop in Japan...you can even find it in most of the big train station...and if you walk along the road...there is a big chance you find uniqlo... it's like McD in Malaysia...you can find it almost anywhere...

After finishing up with shopping activity..we went back to our hotel...so just follow the same route.. go back to Osaka station/umeda station...it is the same...then take the loop line to shin-imamiya... there is a vending machine in the hotel so hubby bought his first japan sparkling juice...really nice..the cost is about 120yen... our room number is 201...so if you want to book this hotel and you want a bathroom inside..just mention i want room number 201...and we ate nasi with rendang daging...seriously delicious ... the instant rice really helpful...just put a cup of water and put in  a microwave for 2 minutes...and it is ready...really glad we bought a lot of it...

After solat and rest for a while...we continue our journey...this time we have 2 mission...to buy toy and take picture at the Osaka must go place..the Glico Running Man...

This time we not going with JR...we going to try using subway...it's a 2 different things railway and subway...we also get confuse at first time... railway consist of the JR Line while subway is a different line....usually they have a different entrance...so be careful...if you going with JR make sure you go to JR station...and if you're using JR Pass ... you can't use it in a subway...actually it just like Malaysia... just imagine the JR is like Putra and subway is Star...some places you have to take star and the other Putra...just do your research...where and how to go...it is very easy...just go to http://www.jorudan.co.jp/english/norikae/ put your from and to station..it will list out and option how to go...time taken and the cost

The subway station is nearer just like 10 steps from the hotel...but there's no lift so bertabahla mengangkat the 2 stroller...so we took subway from shin imamiya to ebisucho... then we arrive at Den Den town...in what I read...den den town is an electronic town just like Akihabara in Tokyo...interesting...let's see what it has to offer..

After we go out from the station we freeze for a while...don't know which way to go right or left... if you're facing the road like my hubby in the picture...go left...walk along the road...it is the right way to go ....

There's a lot of shop that sell electronic gadget and a toy shop as well... we stop at mister donut to buy hello kitty donut and the lion donut...sedap juga...

Then we start to venture into a few toy store...kind of interesting...but we spent most of our time at volks inc... that shop is quite big with a lot of collection you can choose...if you're into collectible item you'll love it especially if you collect anime things....a lot..

Unfortunately the shop started to close at 6pm...and at 7pm the Denden Town is like a ghost town already......so we have not really satisfied with our finding...still lots more shop we're not be able to visit...a little frustrated there... so next we decide to go to dotombori...

Dotombori fact

1. One of the principal tourist destinations. It is a single street, running alongside the Dotombori canal between the Dotomoribashi Bridge and the Nipponbashi bridge in the Nambaward of Osaka.

2. There are lots of people, few trees or greenery, lots of neon signs, it's all equally clean and tidy, and there are a similar number of 24 hour convenience stores and miles of confusing messy overheard electricity cables strung along the roads.

3 There are 3 main landmark in the Dotombori area :  1. The giant neon sign for Glico (a snack manufacturer) featuring a running athlete.  2. A giant 2 meter animated plastic crab above a seafood restaurant, 3. A bizarre life sized animatronic clown-thing beating a small drum

4. Two of Osaka’s signature foods can be found easily in Dotombori. 1. Takoyaki, a sort of dough ball with sliced octopus inside, covered with some sort of brown sauce and then grated dried fish. 2. Okonomyaki, which is best described as two omelette's with noodles and vegetables sandwiched in between, and the same brown sauce and dried fish on the top.

4. On the sidesteps around the bridge/neon area are numerous private clubs. With a very handsome gentleman wearing a suit outside like a bodyguard. Inside you can see a poster with a picture of beautiful Japanese girl you can choose.

Just continue walking along the road...straight up...don't turn anywhere until you reach the bridge...if you have time you can ride a boat along the river...after the bridge then only you turn left...that area is dotombori..there's a lot of shop...Lot's of people, we don't know where to go actually coz there is so many simpang here and there...we just keep on walking...then we see the giant crab...yeaha...found one of the land mark....the life crab is very big...a little like predator...hehehe scary..

We keep on walking although we tired already...coz we have not complete our mission..there's no point of going to Osaka if you can't show your picture with Glico Man as the background... Photo shop editing do not count OK...

We pass thru 1 lorong...it's a row of shop houses...in front of it there's a gentleman with complete suit ....if you jenguk a little bit inside you can see a poster with a few pretty girl ....wallla...i know what this is...it's actually a club...the gentleman is a bouncer....the pretty girl might be a high class prosti....hehehe just my guest...what amaze me you did not feel uncomfartable even though you walk in front of that kind of place...because even the bouncer which then we saw like 10 of them gather...all dress in complete suit...very handsome... i want to compare the dotombori is like walking along Petaling Street....if it's at night...you'll defiantly get scared... you can see a gangster here and there with a tatu all over the body...with a few subang in the ear...wearing tore jeans and baju pagoda...look so scary...the place were dirty with people spit here and there...people shouting..all the low class prosti like calling he bangla...really scary and disgusting...

But here...no one spit since it is prohibited...even gangster ware a complete suit and they look so handsome..no earring...no tatu...they don't disturb you and even when you walk they actually bend their head to show respect...seriously...they are so polite even at this kind of place...

And finally... after a long way walk...there he is...the Glico Man... and we took a lot of picture because we finally completed out mission...macam citer jetlag pulak...there's so many people there..Japaneses peps are so stylish...even at that time you wont see people wearing jeans, tshirt and slipers...only us Malaysian do that...and the girl are so pretty...just like in a movie...

And we continue walking and came across Halal restaurant...but cant really describe where it was cos so many simpang...and we found the nearest subway which is Namba and took a train back to shin imamiya...we singgah at nearby family mart...bought a roti...the roti is only 6 pieces per pack but bapak besar...the price is like 9 hinggit sebungkus...ayooo..what to do...

That will be the end of our tiredness day for today...futon bed...where ur you...and nasi..need a nasik....so we ate nasi and kari ayam and spaghetti for the kids...they really enjoy their food...
